After Nearly 40 Years, Star Wars Insider Comes to an End

After nearly four decades of chronicling the galaxy far, far away, Star Wars Insider is preparing to close its pages one final time. Lucasfilm has officially announced that the long-running magazine will publish its last two issues in early 2026, bringing an end to the franchise’s flagship periodical.

Originally debuting in the late 1980s as The Lucasfilm Fan Club, the magazine evolved alongside the franchise itself. Under its new name, Star Wars Insider became a staple for fans hungry for behind-the-scenes stories, interviews, exclusive fiction, artwork, and deep dives into every corner of the saga. Its earliest issues promoted LucasArts games like TIE Fighter, while later editions covered everything from the Special Editions and prequel trilogy to The Clone Wars, the sequels, and today’s Disney+ era.

The announcement notes that the magazine’s “current run” is ending, hinting that the brand may return someday in a new form—perhaps with fewer issues per year or a hybrid digital model. Still, the news lands just before the next wave of theatrical Star Wars films arrives, making the moment feel even more bittersweet.

The decline of print media has been widely felt across the entertainment industry, and Star Wars Insider is not immune. As access to digital content has risen, traditional circulation numbers have steadily dropped, making the magazine’s closure more an inevitability than a surprise.

For longtime readers, however, Insider represents something irreplaceable—a curated, tangible connection to the franchise. Fans will remember the excitement of pulling an issue off the shelf, discovering new lore, and feeling part of a passionate global community.

Star Wars Insider will conclude with Issue #237. Readers hoping to complete their collections are encouraged to order back issues soon, as Titan Magazines will halt distribution shortly after the final release.
