First Look at Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 as Episode “Black” Heads to Annecy Festival

The highly anticipated Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 is set to debut later this year, and fans have just gotten their first glimpse at one of its episodes. Titled Black, the episode has been submitted to the prestigious Annecy Festival, a French film festival celebrating animation, revealing both a synopsis and an official image.

According to the festival’s shortlisting information, Black centers on an Imperial stormtrooper caught in a surreal internal conflict. The accompanying promotional image showcases multiple stormtroopers locked in an intense firefight, adding to the intrigue surrounding the episode’s visual and narrative style.

The official synopsis, originally in French, describes Black as:

“A psychedelic battle between past and present, light and dark, life and death, rages in the tormented psyche of an Imperial soldier near defeat.”

With the Annecy Festival scheduled for early June, this suggests that Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 may still be a few months away from its Disney+ release. While Volume 2 arrived on May 4, 2023 (Star Wars Day), the first volume premiered on September 22, 2021, leaving summer as a likely window.

Fans can expect an official release date announcement at Star Wars Celebration, likely during the Visions panel, which will feature screenings from previous volumes and promises “a few surprises.” Until then, anticipation continues to build for the next bold chapter in Star Wars: Visions.
