A new comic series is set to explore a pivotal missing chapter in Han Solo’s life between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Titled Star Wars: Han Solo – Hunt for the Falcon, the five-issue limited series from Marvel Comics will follow Han Solo as he emerges from retirement to reclaim the Millennium Falcon—a ship that has mysteriously vanished.

Written by Rodney Barnes and illustrated by Ramon Rosanas, the series picks up in a time when Han had attempted to live a quieter, more settled life. However, discontent with retirement, he is pulled back into adventure when he realizes the Millennium Falcon is missing. Enlisting his loyal companion Chewbacca, the duo sets out on a galaxy-spanning mission to recover their beloved ship.
Marvel’s official synopsis teases that Han and Chewie will face off against a rogue’s gallery of criminals who have laid claim to the Falcon. Chief among them is Ducain, the scoundrel known for stealing the iconic vessel—an offhand reference made in The Force Awakens that will now be fully fleshed out. Along the way, Han will be joined by two of the franchise’s most beloved characters: Leia Organa and Lando Calrissian.
Rodney Barnes expressed his excitement about writing the series, calling it a “dream come true” and an opportunity to work with the heroes he adored as a kid. “To write an adventure that includes that quartet (and more!) is truly an honor,” Barnes said.
Star Wars: Han Solo – Hunt for the Falcon promises to deepen fans’ understanding of Han Solo’s journey, bridging the gap between the original trilogy and the sequel era. It will provide insight into how Han transitioned from a retired war hero to the rogue smuggler we meet again in The Force Awakens—and how the Millennium Falcon fell into other hands.
The first issue arrives on shelves September 3, featuring variant covers from artists Dan Panosian, EJ Su, and Pete Woods. For fans of Han Solo, the Falcon, and classic Star Wars adventure, this series looks to be a must-read.
