The Galaxy Far, Far Away may have found its next big bad.

According to industry scooper Daniel Richtman, Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad, Civil War) has reportedly been offered the villain role in Shawn Levy’s untitled Star Wars film. Plemons, known for his intense performances, was once in the running to play Kylo Ren in The Force Awakens before the role went to Adam Driver.
This follows recent rumors that 28 Years Later star Jodie Comer might join the project alongside Ryan Gosling, who is already attached to lead the film. Although plot details remain tightly under wraps, the movie is expected to be a standalone story — completely separate from the Skywalker Saga — and set after the events of The Rise of Skywalker.
Levy, fresh off the success of Deadpool and Wolverine, has been developing the script with Jonathan Tropper since 2022. Reports suggest the film will have a smaller budget than previous Disney-era entries, with a more contained, character-driven story. Gosling’s character is said to mentor a younger Jedi Padawan.
Plemons is also rumored to be in the running for a role in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, though it's unclear if scheduling would allow him to appear in both projects.
Production on Levy’s Star Wars film is tentatively set to begin in the UK later this year. With Disney reportedly seeing Levy as a "must-keep" director, expectations are high for this fresh chapter in the franchise.
