John Boyega Cheers On Daisy Ridley’s Jedi Return: “I Can’t Wait to Watch It”

John Boyega may have stepped away from the Star Wars spotlight, but he’s still watching the galaxy far, far away—this time from the fan section.

In a recent episode of the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, Boyega shared his excitement about Daisy Ridley’s return as Rey in the upcoming New Jedi Order film. “I’m online, I watch reaction videos, I get the Star Wars emails—as if I wasn’t in the films,” he laughed. “When I found out about Daisy’s movie, it made sense. I’m just hoping she gets that chance to shine.”

Though Boyega’s name hasn’t been linked to the film, and he’s been open in the past about his complicated relationship with the franchise, his support for Ridley remains rock solid. “I miss Daisy,” he said. “I think it’s exciting. I can’t wait to watch it. I really can’t. I’m happy for her.”

The New Jedi Order project, directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and currently being rewritten by The Adjustment Bureau’s George Nolfi, is still in development limbo. Ridley is expected to lead the film, set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, training a new generation of Jedi.

While fans continue to speculate about a potential Rey-Finn reunion, both Ridley and Boyega have downplayed any plans to share the screen again. But if it happens? Boyega will be there—watching.
