Mia Goth has officially joined the cast of Star Wars: Starfighter, the upcoming film directed by Shawn Levy, as one of its primary villains. The news, first reported by Jeff Sneider and later confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, places Goth opposite Ryan Gosling, who leads the film as a father protecting his young child from dangerous pursuers—one of whom will be portrayed by Goth. The film is set to begin production in fall 2025 and is scheduled for release on May 28, 2027.
Goth reportedly won the role over Mikey Madison, whose negotiations allegedly fell through due to financial disagreements. Known for her breakout performances in Ti West’s X horror trilogy (X, Pearl, and MaXXXine), Goth brings a strong presence to the Star Wars galaxy. Her past work includes films such as Suspiria, A Cure for Wellness, and Emma, as well as early roles in Nymphomaniac and UK series like The Tunnel and Wallander.
Starfighter was officially announced at Star Wars Celebration 2025, where Levy revealed that the film is a standalone story, not tied to the Skywalker saga. Set five years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, it aims to explore an uncharted period in the Star Wars timeline. With a script by Jonathon Tropper, the movie is described as a fresh, self-contained adventure.
In addition to Starfighter, Goth is involved in other major projects, including Christopher Nolan’s upcoming The Odyssey, set for release in July 2026, and Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, premiering in November 2025.
With a high-profile cast and a bold new direction, Star Wars: Starfighter is shaping up to be a significant addition to the franchise’s evolving cinematic universe.
