Mia Goth is opening up about her experience filming Star Wars: Starfighter, offering new insight into director Shawn Levy’s creative energy and her own lifelong connection to the saga.

In a brief interview clip with Josh Horowitz, the actress—who stars as one of the film’s primary villains opposite Ryan Gosling—shared glowing praise for Levy’s leadership on set.
Goth, coming off her acclaimed performance in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, described the atmosphere on Starfighter as unlike anything she’s experienced. “I’m having such an incredible time,” she said. “Shawn has an energy I’ve never met in any other. He’s electric. And it has a trickle-down effect on the rest of the set. He’s so excited. He’s so inspired. And it’s contagious.” According to Goth, that enthusiasm has shaped the production’s tone, helping cast and crew tap into something truly special.
She also reflected on her personal connection to Star Wars, noting that she first encountered George Lucas’s original films through her father. “Those in particular have a special place in my heart,” she said—adding emotional weight to her role in helping bring a new Jedi-era story to life.
Even though Star Wars: Starfighter is still deep into production, the project has already generated major headlines. Over the weekend, director Shawn Levy confirmed that 15-time Oscar nominee Thomas Newman will compose the score. He also revealed that he completely reworked the film’s third act partway through development, calling the new version “much better than the original idea would have been.”
With a release date set for May 28, 2027, Starfighter remains one of the most anticipated installments of the franchise’s next cinematic era—and Goth’s comments only add to the growing excitement.
