After years of uncertainty, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic fans have received another update—albeit a small one—on the long-awaited remake. Saber Interactive’s Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits recently took to X to confirm that all of the company’s previously announced projects are still in development. While he didn’t name KOTOR directly, it’s widely assumed that the remake is included in this statement.

The remake’s journey has been turbulent since its initial announcement in 2021. Originally developed by Aspyr Media, the project faced reported development troubles, leading to speculation that it had been shelved entirely. However, Saber Interactive later took over development, with its CEO reassuring fans that work was still ongoing.
Despite this latest confirmation, concrete details remain elusive. Nearly four years after its reveal, fans have yet to see any substantial updates beyond the original announcement trailer, leaving many to wonder whether the game will release before the current console generation ends.
Still, Star Wars gamers have plenty to look forward to. Respawn Entertainment is hard at work on the final entry in its Jedi trilogy, and Bit Reactor is set to unveil its own Star Wars game at Celebration Japan next month. Meanwhile, several classic titles continue to be remastered and re-released, including Jedi Power Battles.
For now, KOTOR fans will have to remain patient—but at least they can still enjoy the original game and its sequel on the Nintendo Switch in the meantime.
