Explore the Galaxy Far, Far Away: New Official Star Wars Map Now Live

Star Wars fans can now explore the galaxy like never before, thanks to an official interactive map released by Lucasfilm. Available on the franchise’s website, this updated map provides an expansive, canon-focused look at the galaxy far, far away, complete with regions, trade routes, and detailed planetary locations spanning films, series, books, comics, games, and animated stories.

The map builds upon the foundation of 2009’s Star Wars: The Essential Atlas, which originally depicted the Expanded Universe, now considered Star Wars Legends. This new version refines the design to align with current canon, offering the most comprehensive and officially sanctioned visualization of the Star Wars galaxy to date.

In addition to mapping nearly all major planets and systems featured throughout the sprawling franchise, Lucasfilm has provided an extensive 59-page appendix. This supplemental guide dives into the specific details of key regions and locations, helping fans understand the interconnected web of stories and planetary lore that defines the Star Wars universe.

The map also highlights galactic regions and hyperspace trade routes, offering context for how various planets and systems relate to each other both narratively and geographically. From the Core Worlds to the Unknown Regions, the tool provides fans with a sense of scale and structure across one of science fiction’s most beloved settings.

However, it’s important to note that not every location seen in Star Wars media appears on this map. Worlds like Kamino, located in the Rishi Maze, or Peridea, introduced in Ahsoka, exist outside the familiar galaxy and are therefore excluded. But Lucasfilm has promised regular updates to the map as the franchise continues to expand through upcoming movies, shows, and other media.

This interactive resource is a dream come true for lore enthusiasts and newcomers alike, providing a dynamic way to explore the Star Wars galaxy and stay updated on its ever-growing mythology.
