In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Skeleton Crew showrunners Jon Watts and Christopher Ford delved into the complexities of Jod Na Nawood, played by Jude Law, and shared their hopes for a potential second season. Warning: spoilers ahead.

Watts and Ford revealed that Jod’s morally ambiguous character arc was crafted to subvert expectations, with Law’s performance central to its success. “Jude was invested in making Jod three-dimensional,” Ford said. “Even in his villainy, it comes from a human place.”
The pair explained that Jod’s internal conflict and reluctance to harm the children he grew close to were pivotal. “It’s not a kids’ show,” Watts emphasized. “We didn’t want to oversimplify those ideas.”
As for the finale’s ambiguous ending, Watts teased, “You can read a lot into his expression as he watches his plan unravel.” Ford admitted to seeing new emotional layers in Jod’s final moments even after countless viewings during production.
While a second season hasn’t been confirmed, Watts and Ford have plenty of ideas. They hinted at exploring Jod’s backstory and expanding on the consequences of the first season’s events. “The kids growing up and their planet’s integration into the galaxy are fascinating story prompts,” Watts noted.
For now, fans will have to wait, with speculation pointing to an announcement at Star Wars Celebration in April. Whether the story continues remains to be seen, but the creators’ enthusiasm for more is unmistakable.
