Insider Daniel Richtman has revealed on Patreon that Lucasfilm is working on two new animated Star Wars series for Disney+. These projects aim to continue the franchise's tradition of flagship animated storytelling, which began in 2008 with The Clone Wars.

For nearly two decades, Star Wars fans have enjoyed a steady stream of high-quality 3D animated series, including Rebels, Resistance, and The Bad Batch. With The Bad Batch concluding its run in May 2024, Lucasfilm has been without a primary animated series for the first time since 2008.
Meanwhile, smaller animated projects continue to enrich the galaxy far, far away. The anthology series Visions is set to return for Season 3 in 2025, offering new stories from studios worldwide. Additionally, the child-oriented Young Jedi Adventures will release the second half of its second season this year.
Disney+ has also embraced anthology shorts with Tales of the Jedi (2022) and Tales of the Empire (2024), though plans for a third season of Tales of the Jedi remain uncertain.
Given Star Wars’ unbroken track record of releasing a major animated series annually, it's likely one of these new projects could debut later this year. While details about the series remain under wraps, fans can anticipate exciting developments that will carry the animated legacy of Star Wars forward.
