Andor is celebrating a major victory in a galaxy not so far away. The acclaimed Star Wars series, created by Tony Gilroy, earned five Emmy® Awards in 2025, including a high-profile win for outstanding writing. Dan Gilroy took home the honor for episode 9, “Welcome to the Rebellion,” which features Senator Mon Mothma’s rousing speech—delivered by Genevieve O’Reilly—marking a turning point in the birth of the Rebel Alliance.

In his acceptance speech, Gilroy nodded to one of the series’ most memorable catchphrases, declaring, “Obviously, we have friends everywhere.” He went on to thank not only the cast and crew but also the fans “who did more than watch the show. They listened. They cared. And they made a story about ordinary people fighting impossible odds possible.” His words echoed the series’ themes of resilience, sacrifice, and collective action against tyranny.
This recognition capped off a triumphant awards season for Andor. The week before, the show had already collected four Creative Arts Emmys. Honors included outstanding costumes for the intricate Chandrilan wedding sequence, production design for the politically charged world of Ghorman, and visual effects that seamlessly blended realism with the saga’s trademark spectacle. In addition, the Lucasfilm documentary Music by John Williams—a celebration of the legendary composer behind Star Wars’ iconic soundscape—won for outstanding sound editing.
The five total wins underscore Andor’s reputation as one of the boldest and most sophisticated entries in the Star Wars canon. By grounding its story in political drama and ordinary heroism, the series continues to resonate with both critics and fans, proving that the galaxy far, far away has space for intimate, character-driven storytelling alongside epic battles and adventure.
